Commonwealth Clayworks is a pottery studio offering classes and studio membership. We work to create a welcoming community by connecting people through clay.
Clayworks Companion program enables senior citizens and people with limited mobility the ability to participate comfortably in our studio with a companion-helper. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Somerville Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

our classes

Clayworks is a beginner-focused studio dedicated to teaching foundational skills in ceramics. Our structured approach helps you learn quickly while having fun. Our classes run efficiently at a fast pace in order to fit into your busy schedules and to provide an affordable entry point into experiencing ceramics.
Instructors from the top left; Zoë, Fern (instructor and founder), Diana, Leah, Hoay, Simon and Sophie (instructor and studio manager).

our community
Membership allows people with pottery experience access to the studio to work independently during member hours. The studio vibe is that we are primarily a learning studio for beginners. Membership community is built on enthusiasm to learn from each other. More on Memberships.

Commonwealth Clayworks is a beginner focused studio that joyfully opened the summer of 2024. The studio space is open with lots of natural light. We are wheel chair accessible with a covered, curbside drop-off area. The studio offers:
-
(12) professional potter's wheels and several hand-building tables
-
communal clay and glazes (mid-fire stoneware clay)
-
communal tools and aprons
